Big Blues blank Falcons in tennis

BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield State men’s tennis team improved to 12-0 on the season with a 9-0 win over Fairmont State on Friday at the Bluefield City Courts.

Bluefield State won all six singles in straight sets, and claimed three doubles matches in a trio of 8-0 one-set decisions.

Fairmont State managed to score just four points out of the six singles matches, with Bluefield State top seed Jacob Carey defeating Zach Hatfield 6-0, 6-1.

Aziz Yuldashev, Vishwesh Sinha, Anthony Braem, Connor Pickering and Guillermo Cortes Lopez earned singles wins for the Blues.

The doubles duos of Yuldashev-Pickering, Sinha-Braem and Piotr Kruk-Vlad Catlan were also victorious.

Bluefield State will now venture to Florida for spring break, and will play five teams currently ranked in the top 50 among Division II teams in America.
