Boys soccer: Bluefield, Sissonville tie

SISSONVILLE — The Bluefield High School soccer squad traveled to Sissonville Saturday expecting a tough game against the seventh-ranked Warriors and they got just that, ending with a 2-2 tie.

Sissonville scored in the first minute and a half of the game but the Beavers pulled even midway through the first half as freshman Ryan Stamper followed a Jose Tarin ricochet off the goalie to tie the game.

In the second half, Bluefield scored first as Justin Phillips curled a direct kick around the Warrior wall into the corner for the score.

The final goal of the game came with just 12.6 seconds left as Sissonville tied the game with a header.

Bluefield (9-4-1) travels to PikeView on Thursday.
