Tigers claw by Generals, Beavers headed upstate

PRINCETON — The Princeton Tigers beat the Winfield Generals 5-4 in extra innings Monday night to claim 11th place in the MSAC tournament at Hunnicutt Field.

Brett Wall had a walk-off singled in the bottom of the eighth that scored Ian Southcott with the game-winning run.

Southcott and Will Hickman had two hits for the Tigers while Wall rapped out three with two RBIs.

Ryan Bayle got the win in relief of Aaron Ferguson, pitching the final four innings.

Princeton (9-15) plays next on Thursday at PikeView.

BRADSHAW — River View improved to 11-4 with a win over East Ridge, Ky., at Mike Vallo Field.

Perry Foster, Matt Thornsbury and Cameron Roberts each had two hits for the Raiders, with Foster knocking in four runs.

T.J. Stacy was the winning pitcher.

River View plays at Mount View on Wednesday.

NARROWS, Va. — The Green Wave picked up a Mountain Empire District win over the G-Girls, Monday evening, getting three home runs in the contest.

Casey Wilburn led off the game with a homer and two batters later Kasey Richardson hit a two-run shot. The third home run was a solo shot by Kalyn Neal who was 3-for-4 in the game. Darien Nagel and Tiffany Perdue were also 3-for-4.

The two teams meet again today at Graham Rec Park.

NARROWS, Va. — The Graham G-Men shut out Narrows, Monday evening to improve to 9-3 on the season. Sam Stowers scored two goals while Nate Figueroa, Jon Figueroa, Alex Aiello, David King, Omar Sekkarie and Nick Shoemaker each added a goal. Aiello had two assists while Logan Surface, Nate Figueroa and Stowers added an assist.

Hunter Cook had nine saves in goal while the G-Men took 19 shots on Narrows’ goal.

Graham celebrates Senior Night tonight as they host Richlands at the East River Soccer Complex.

doubles to state

ATHENS — All three doubles teams from Bluefield High School advanced to state tournament play. No. 1 seed Frankie Desiderio and Chris Lawless and No. 3 seed Zack Taylor and Mark Clapp both won regional championships while No. 2 seed Jordan Volmar and Wesley Stump were regional runners up.

The tournament continues today with singles matches.
