River View outscores Mavericks

LINDSIDE — Demetrius Duff struck out eight batters, walked seven and gave up two hits in 5 2/3 innings on Friday as the River View Raiders took an 8-4 win from the James Monroe Mavericks.

Tyler Roberts scored twice for River View, which scored five runs in the second inning after the home team grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first.

River View managed two hits off James Monroe starter John Mustain and two off reliever Cory Lilly. The Raiders got RBIs from Duff, Jeffrey Kidwell, Timothy Stacy and Blankenship.

Ryan Wickline was 2-for-2 for the Mavericks with a double and drove in a run. Lilly also had an RBI. In his relief pitching role, he struck out nine Raiders and walked three with two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.
