Bulldogs bite the Bears

BLAND,Va. — Tanner Catron fired in 21 and Juwan Jordan added 16 to lead the Tazewell Bulldogs to a 79-47 win over the Bland County Bears, Wednesday night.

Joining Catron and Jordan scoring in double digits for the Dogs were Colin Hancock, Isyah Hagy and Jessee Mountain with 10 each. Hagy had 10 rebounds and Hancock seven assists.

Mason Christian led Bland County with 20 points while Caleb Lambert added 10.

Bland County is now 1-1 and plays at Patrick Henry-Glade Spring on Friday.

Tazewell visits Graham on Friday.

LINDSIDE — Brandi Morrison led five Summers County scorers in double digits as the Lady Bobcats gained a road win Wednesday night at James Monroe.

In addition to Morrison’s 28 points, Whittney Justice tallied 17, Brittany Justice 11, while Avery Pivont and Brenna Davis popped in 10 points apiece.

Makayla Moran led James Monroe with 15. Lauren Throckmorten scored 12, while Kelsey Christian and Carter Shiflet tossed in 11 each.

MARION, Va. — Whitney Saunders and Autumn Hash combined for 34 points to lead the Tazewell Lady Bulldogs past Marion, Wednesday night.

Saunders tallied 18 and Has 16 to top the Tazewell scoring column. Margaret Wagner led Marion with 11 points.

Tazewell improved to 2-3 and plays next on Friday at Graham.
