FRANKFORT, Ky. —
The Bluefield women’s basketball team led Georgetown by nine points at halftime, but the Tigers came roaring back to defeat the Rams 74-65 in the Mid-South Conference quarterfinals on Thursday evening.
Bluefield (16-14) was eliminated from the MSC, but will be involved in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament next week, with the Rams hosting the Mid-East Regional on March 7-8.
Teqa McNeal led the seventh-seeded Rams with 18 points, whle Janee Simmons added 15 points and 10 rebounds and Ashley White tallied 17 points and distributed five boards and four assists.
Second-seeded Georgetown (21-8) was paced by Lizza Jonas (24 points, 9 rebounds), Devon Golden (20 points, 9 boards) and Kourtney Tyra (14 points, six assists).
The Tigers outscored the Rams 49-31 in the second half. Georgetown was 28-for-34 from the free throw line, while Bluefield was 14-of-19.
