PRINCETON — The Princeton girls basketball team fought toe-to-toe with the Logan Wildcats on Thursday in the opening round of the Class AAA state playoffs, but Logan prevailed 77-66 at the Charleston Civic Center, ending the Tigerettes' season.
Logan's Shayna Gore scored 36 points, and the rebounding of the taller and larger Wildcats was too much for Princeton to overcome.
Princeton fought back from a 15-3 deficit to tie the game 34-34 at halftime. Logan took the lead for good with 1:45 left in the third quarter.
Seniors led the way for Princeton. McKenzie Akers and Hannah Preservati each scored 17 points. Akers had nine assists and three steals. Jessica Inman had 12 points and four assists. Khadija Payne led Princeton's rebounding with 10. She also had six points and four assists.
