Jays, Rays return to the diamond today

ATLANTA — The Bluefield Blue Jays will host the first of three straight doubleheaders with Burlington tonight at Bowen Field beginning at 5 p.m. Bluefield (12-9) and Burlington (11-10) will complete a suspended game from July 10 in which the Blue Jays led 1-0 in the top in the top of the fifth inning in what is slated to be a nine inning game. The nightcap, 20 minutes after the completion of the first contest, will be a seven inning contest.

 •Bluefield and Burlington will also play a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 5 p.m., with Friday’s twinbill starting at 4 p.m.

 

The Princeton Rays (6-18) will seek their second road win of the season tonight in the start of a three-game series against the Greeneville Astros (15-10), who are currently in first place in the Western Division of the Appalachian League. Princeton hasn’t won two straight games since completing a three-game sweep of Johnson City on July 1. Jacob Faria will start tonight for Princeton against Greeneville’s Frederick Tiburcio.
