Mount View claims softball sectional

WELCH — The Mount View softball team claimed its sectional for the first time in several years, sweeping River View 10-4 and 22-12 on Tuesday evening at Mount View High School.

Mount View rallied from a 9-3 third inning deficit, scoring 19 runs over the final three innings to finish off the Raiders.

Jordan Younger, who hit home runs in both games, hit a home run and drove in six runs in the nightcap. Megan Price earned the win in the circle, and also had two hits and four RBIs.

River View was paced by Sissy Waldron with three hits and five RBIs, while Summer Bailey had two doubles and three runs batted in. Kiersten Dority had three hits and Chelsey Dobbs added two.

Mount View took the opener behind the three-hit pitching of Brianna Kiser and two hits, including another home run, by Younger.

Dobbs had a triple for the Raiders, while Rebekah Christian collected a double.

Mount View, which scored seven runs in the fourth and sixth innings, and five in the fifth, will host a regional contest on Monday.
