WARDELL, Va. —
Richlands got a run in the bottom of the seventh and defeated Marion 4-3, Friday in Southwest District baseball action.
Michael Horton had two hits and scored two runs, including the game-winner for the Blues. Andy Guerriero pitched the seventh inning for the Blues and picked up the win.
Richlands (3-4, 1-1) returns to the field today in the Coppinger Invitational, taking on Fayetteville at 2 p.m.

Montcalm 4, Meadow Bridge 3
COOPERS — The Montcalm Generals improved to 8-8 on the year with a 4-3 win over the Meadow Bridge Wildcats, scoring in the bottom of the seventh to gain the win.
John Casto and Aaron Presley each had a pair of hits to lead the Generals and Steven Whittaker gained the pitching victory.
Montcalm returns to the diamond this afternoon at Cross Lanes Christian.

Bland County 9, Fort Chiswell 2
BASTIAN, Va. — Bland County scored seven times in the first inning en route to a Mountain Empire District win over Fort Chiswell.
Aaron Rose struck out 12 and was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI in gaining the pitching win. Ryan Dillow had three hits while Tyler White and Zach Williams each had a pair of hits for the Bears.
Bland County plays next on Wednesday in a doubleheader at Marion.

COAL CITY — Bluefield managed just four hits in a wooden bat tournament at Independence in a loss to the Red Dragons.
Justin Mariotti doubled for the Beavers, while Christian Oster, Trevor Mullins and Logan Lineberry each had singles in defeat. Andrew Siegel took the loss on the mound.
Bluefield (6-14) will play Independence today.
PikeView 5, Greenbrier East 3
GARDNER — PikeView scored five in the first and held on to beat Greenbrier East, Friday evening on the PVHS campus.
Haleigh Compton pitched five innings and got the victory. Cmpton, Savannah Coalson and Kendra Cecil each had a hit for the Lady Panthers. Cecil, the lone senior on the team, was recognized on Senior Night.
PikeView (11-10) plays a doubleheader today at Logan.

Tigers sweep Knights
WELCH — Sophomore Molly Gravier and junior Brook Hensley spun a shutout apiece at Mount View Friday evening on Toms Mountain, as the Princeton Lady Tigers picked up a pair of wins over the Lady Knights 9-0 and 11-0.
Rachel Garrett and Kendra Kline led the Princeton offense in the first game with two hits apiece, with Kline blasting a two run homer in the fourth. She also recorded an RBI in the first with a single.
Gravier fanned nine, while allowing only two hits in the first game.
Heather Tolnay and Paige Short each singled for the Lady Golden Knight hits.
In the nightcap, catcher Meredith Putorek, Garrett, Kellan Mallory and Gravier had two hits each in a ten hit Lady Tiger offensive attack.
Hensley struck out four in the three inning contest, allowing only an Ashleigh Belfiore single in the first inning.
Princeton, now 5-13, will open sectional tournament play next Wednesday, while the Lady Knights will host River View in the best two-of-three series, starting Monday at 5 p.m. There will be a game Monday and Tuesday, with a deciding one Wednesday, if needed.
Richlands 7, Marion 0
RICHLANDS, Va. — Cassidy Richardson and Nadia Sheets each scored three goals, leading the Lady Blues to a Southwest District win over the Scarlet Hurricane.
McKinley Davis added a goal for Richlands, while Nikki Sparks had four saves in goal.
Richardson now has 22 goals in six games this season.
Richlands (4-1-1, 1-0-1) will visit Tazewell on Monday and host Carroll County on Tuesday.
Beavers tops Westside
BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield High School boys tennis team improved to 12-0 on the season with a win Friday over Westside. The Beavers begin regional play next week at Concord.
