G-Men fall, Lady Blues advance in tourney play

FORT CHISWELL, Va. — The homestanding Fort Chiswell got 21 points from Coleman Thomas and 16 from Dylan Hale and upset the Graham G-Men 63-42 in the Mountain Empire District semi-finals, Thursday night.

Zach Proffitt led the G-Men with 14 points, Tony Hood added 12 and Colby Hill tallied 10.

Graham will play in Region C tournament action next week at Graham Middle School.

Galax upset Grayson County in the other semifinal and will play Fort Chiswell tonight for the MED championship.

Richlands 59,      Tazewell 42

RICHLANDS, Va. — The Richlands Lady Blues advanced to the Southwest District championship game with a win over Tazewell, Thursday night at Richlands Middle School.

Brittany Allen scorched the nets for 30 points and MaKenley Davis added 10. Rachel Alley had 11 rebounds and Cassidy Richardson dished out nine assists.

Autumn Hash led Tazewell with 15 points and Halley Christian dropped in 10.

Richlands (19-3) will host Carroll County, Saturday at 8 p.m. for the district crown, while Tazewell will play the Abingdon in the consolation game at 5 o’clock. The JV championship will be at 6:30.

MONTCALM — Madison Syner scored 17 to lead the Midland Trail Patriots past the Montcalm Lady Generals.

Miranda Kendrick led the Lady Generals with 13 points and three assists, and Leslie Kelley added 10 points with six rebounds.

Montcalm hosts Liberty Raleigh tonight at 6:30 for Senior Night.

SUMMERSVILLE — Pipestem Christian advanced to the semifinals of the WVCA Tournament with a victory over Grace Christian of Huntington, Thursday evening.

Aleks Lane led Pipestem wit 27 and Austin Peyton added 16.

Kris Atkins led Grace with 11.

Pipestem will play Teays Valley Christian tonight in the semifinals.
