Prep boys: G-Men, Beavers collect road wins

NARROWS, Va. — Glynn Carlock, Jr., picked up the 100th win of his coaching career with a 70-41 Mountain Empire District victory over the Green Wave on Tuesday night.

Colby Hill scored 23 points, and also added six assists and five rebounds for the G-Men. Spencer Sheets tallied 14 points and Tony Hood contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Hill and Hood had two 3s apiece for the G-Men.

Chandler Burton paced Narrows with 11 points. The Green Wave visits Fort Chiswell on Friday.

Graham (14-4, 6-0) will host Grayson County tonight with first place in the MED at stake. Both teams are 6-0 in the league.

Bluefield 83, Summers County 67

HINTON — Anthony Eades led four Bluefield players in double figures with 23 points, leading the top-ranked Beavers to 16-point win over the Bobcats.

Eades passed the 1,000-point mark in his career. Eades will be recognized for his accomplishment prior to next Tuesday’s home game with Summers County.

Lykel Collier added 21 points, while Michael Yost had 18 and D.J. Edwards canned 13. Eades and Collier had a trio of 3s apiece, while Yost added two.

Summers County was paced by Ta’Ron Ayers with 29 poins and 17 by Matt Ryan.

Bluefield will play Robert C. Byrd in the Big Atlantic championship game on Saturday in Beckley. Summers County will entertain Covington tonight.

Honaker 69,           Twin Valley 50

PILGRIM’S KNOB, Va. — Honaker freshman Tanner Robinette had 14 points and the Tigers used a strong middle two quarters to get ahead to stay on Tuesday at Twin Valley High School.

Ty Hall nailed a pair of threes and scored 13 points for the Tigers, and Hunter Lester chipped in 10 points.

For Twin Valley, Logan Cantrell had 13 points and eight rebounds, three steals and three assists. Shannon Adams also had eight rebounds along with 11 points and one steal. Christian Case had nine boards and one assist.

Honaker continues its road swing on Friday, traveling to Council. Twin Valley (6-10) plays tonight at Richlands in a quad series of games.

HURLEY, Va. — Greg Stacy scored 19 points and Wesley Peck added 16 to lead the Rebels past the Golden Wave.

Grundy was paced by Charles McCoy with 14 points.
