DANVILLE, Va. —
The Danville Braves got a walk-off single by Justin Black, scoring pinch runner Connor Lien from second, giving the home team a 3-2 win over the Princeton Rays, Friday night at Dan Daniel Park.
Rays starter Nolan Gannon threw five innings of one hit baseball. Gannon struck out four and walked none.
Danville took the lead in the bottom of the sixth and Princeton tied it in the top of the seventh as Leopoldo Correa followed a Elias Torres’ double with a single. Danville retook the lead in the eighth only to see the Rays rally in the top of the ninth to tie the game at two. Torres followed a walk to Travis Flores with a line drive triple off Wright that flew over the head of the centerfielder.
Chad Nacapoy hit a grounder to third and go ahead run was gunned down at the plate.
In Danville’s part of the ninth Aris Alcantara walked and Lien pinch ran at first. Carlos Sanchez was able to execute a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt getting Lien to second, setting the stage for Black.
Black laced a ball up the middle than glanced off the shortstop's glove as he ranged for the ball allowing Lien to score from second as the throw to the plate was too late.
Darren Fischer took the loss for Princeton.
