Raiders fall to Crusaders

BRADSHAW — Keith Mullins scored 30 points to lead Greater Beckley Christian to a 77-50 win over River View in the regular season finale for the Raiders on Thursday night.

Mullins, who had seven of the Crusaders’ eight 3s, led Beckley Christian to a 37-8 lead, building the margin to as much as 30 points.

Javonne Staunton-Bailes added 14 points for the Crusaders (16-3), while Brent Daniels contributed 22

 Senior Zach Morgan knocked down five treys of his own to lead River View on Senior Night with 19, while freshman Tyree Baker finished with 10.

The two teams combined for 21 3s, 12 by the Crusaders.

River View (3-19) will visit James Monroe on Saturday in the opening round of the Class AA Region III Section 2 tournament. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.

James Monroe 50, Mount View 45

LINDSIDE — James Monroe’s Mavericks rode past the Mount View Golden Knights in the regular-season finale for both teams Thursday night.

Micah Deskins led the Mavericks (6-12) with 19 points. Garrett Mann tallied 13 along with eight rebounds and seven blocks, and Jacob McKlarney scored 12 on four three point baskets.

Antoine Calloway led the Golden Knights (13-8) with 16 and Maurice Brown added 15.

James Monroe will play River View in a sectional game Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at JMHS, with the winner playing Bluefield in Princeton, Tuesday at 6 p.m. Mount View will face PikeView in the nightcap Tuesday at Princeton.

BRADLEY — Caleb Janning scored 22 points and J.J. Easter added 14, leading Mercer Christian to the West Virginia Christian Education Association (WVCEA) semifinals with a win over Mountain State at Appalachian Bible College.

Austin Cude led Mountain State with 20 points, while Larry Stroub added 14.

Mercer Christian (14-8) will face either Morgantown Christian or Emmanuel Christian today at 5:30 p.m.

BRADLEY — Austin Peyton scored 24 points and Aleks Lane added 14, leading the Panthers to a WVCEA semifinal date today with rival Ballard Christian.

Ethan Lane added nine points for Pipestem Christian.

Trey Suttle led Elk Valley with 13 and Jordan Elkins tallied 12.

Pipestem Christian will meet Ballard Christian today at 4 p.m. at Appalachian Bible College.
