G-Girls soccer, PikeView baseball gain wins

Graham ends regular season 11-3

ABINGDON, Va. — Whitney Browning scored twice on the soccer field for Graham High on Friday evening, and that was enough to give the G-Girls a 2-1 win over Abingdon to end the regular season at 11-3.

Caroline Kelley fed Browning a pass into the box in the first half. Browning dribbled, turned and shot for the lone goal of the half.

Abingdon got the equalizer in the second half, but with about 15 minutes left, Morgan Whisman launched a long pass to Browning, who faced down the goalkeeper and fired the eventual game-winner.

A lightning delay stopped the match with slightly more than six minutes left, and play did not resume after rain set in.

Karly Morgan was in goal for Graham. The G-Girls play the Mountain Empire District championship match with Galax on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner goes on to the regionals on May 28.
