Braves sweep Rays

DANVILLE, Va. — Armando Araiza had a pair of hits and seven other Rays got into the hit column, but it was not quite enough as the Danville Braves went to extra innings and defeated the Princeton Rays 5-4 in the opening game of a twinbill, Saturday evening at Legion Field.

Princeton scored once in the second and twice in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead before Danville scored four times in the fourth. Princeton knotted the game in the fith and the teams remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Danville scored the winning run.

Yoel Araujo knocked in two runs for the Rays who remained winless in road games this season.

D.J. Slaton started for Princeton and worked four-and-two-third innings. Luis Cabrera pitched the final two-and-two-thirds and suffered the loss.

Alejandro Piloto had three hits for the Braves. Conneor Lien and Johan Camargo had two hits each. Richie Tate worked the final three innings to pick up the win, allowing no runs and no Princeton hits.

Danville won game two 1-0.

The two teams meet again this afternoon. First pitch is 4 p.m.
