GREENEVILLE, Tenn. —
For the second straight night, the Bluefield Blue Jays were scored on late and suffered a one-run loss to the Greeneville Astros on Monday at Pioneer Park.
Greeneville’s Thomas Lindauer singled in the bottom of the ninth and produced the 3-2 win when Bluefield shortstop Franklin Baretto committed a throwing error on an attempted double play to end the inning.
Lindauer scored the game’s first run in the third and drove in Juan Santana in the next frame for a 2-0 lead.
In the Bluefield sixth, Matt Dean singles to score Tim Locastro. Dean stole second and third base, and tied the game on an RBI single by Jonathan Davis, ending the night for Greeneville starter Frederick Tiburcio.
Bluefield, which had three errors, had nine hits, but only one batter with more than one hit. Dean was 2 for 4.
Astros’ reliever Austin Chrismon took the win, allowing four hits and no runs in 3 1/3 innings on his home mound.
The Pulaski Mariners, hotly pursuing Bluefield for the Appy East crown, lost 3-2 to Kingsport and remain half a game back of the Blue Jays with four games left in the regular season.
Bluefield finishes its trip to Greeneville tonight and plays the following three days at Kingsport.

Elizabethton 11, Princeton 3
PRINCETON — The Elizabeth-ton Twins erased a 3-1 Princeton lead with a six-run sixth inning, then tacked on four runs in the ninth to end the Rays’ seven-game winning streak.
In the second inning, David Garcia singled and Leo Correa doubled to set the stage for Bralin Jackson, whose single to center brought both home. In the fourth, the Rays made it 3-1 when Correa doubled again to plate Garcia.
Elizabethton got four straight hits to begin the sixth inning, and put half a dozen runs on the scoreboard to give Hein Robb (4-4) the pitching win. Oscar Armenta took (1-3) took the loss for Princeton in relief of Jorge Rodriguez.
Hunter Lockwood was 3 for 4 at the plate for Princeton, hitting two doubles. Johnny Eierman was 2 for 3, and Garcia and Correa were both 2 for 4.
The Rays host the Twins again tonight and finish the season with a three-day trip to Bristol.
