State soccer awards distributed

BLACKSBURG, Va. —  Four members of the PikeView boys state championship soccer team have been selected to the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Class AA-A team. Alex Testerman and Austin Cordell were first team selections, while Seth Wood was second team. Hunter Klein, left, was an honorable mention selection.


 Princeton’s Amanda Barrett claimed first team honors in voting for the WVHSSCA Class AAA Girls All-State team. Fellow Tigers Tori Billips and Madi Boggess earned honorable mention recognition.


The PikeView girls soccer team was also recognized by the WVHSSCA All-Class AA-A team. Brooke Baker earned first team honors, while Kristen Brinkley, Shyann Carr, Sophie Klein and Kassie Catron were placed on the second team. Crysta Meekins earned honorable mention honors.


 Richlands placed Mac Cordill and Sarah Compton on the All-Conference 39 Volleyball first team. Other local products to get first team honors include Rebecca Day of Graham and Tazewell’s Whitney Saunders. Conference 39 champion Grayson County swept the top awards.
