Brown’s five touchdowns leads Bobcats past Wildcats; Whitlow keeps Giles unbeaten

HINTON — Isaiah Brown ran for 188 yards and five touchdowns on just 11 carries, including a 60-yard score on the final play of the game to lead Summers County to a 39-32 win over Meadow Bridge on Friday night.

Brown, who also had two receptions for 38 yards, scored on runs of 35, 15, 60, 65 and 60. T.J. Smith ran 15 times for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Jaquan Ayers added 90 yards on nine carries.

Jake Parker led the Wildcats with 208 yards and three touchdowns.

Summers County (7-1) will visit Mount View on Friday.

ELLISTON, Va. — Brett Whitlow ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries to help lift the Spartans over the Mustangs.

Tyler Perdue rushed for two touchdowns for Giles (7-0, 2-0 Three Rivers District). Giles rushed 41 times for 283 yards and attempted only one pass.

Daryl Manns ran for 64 yards and two touchdowns on five carries for Eastern Montgomery (1-6, 0-2). Elliot Stigall completed 11 of 13 passes for 123 yards with an interception.

NARROWS, Va. — Brett Mabry threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns, and Dallas Ward ran for 98 yards and two scores, as Fort Chiswell improved to 7-0 on the season.

Ward put Fort Chiswell on the board with an 8-yard scoring run in the first quarter, and then Patrick Beidleman, who had four carries for 134 yards, ran for 95 of those yards for another touchdown and a 14-0 lead.

Mabry, who was 7 for 9 through the air, completed scoring passes of 27, 11 and 19 yards to three different receivers in the second quarter to give the Pioneers a 34-0 halftime lead.

Joe Hall completed 7 of 17 passes for 47 yards, while Ty Hall caught five passes for 34 yards. The Green Wave had just 134 yards on offense.

Narrows (3-4) will visit Galax on Friday.

MONTCALM — Montcalm had the ball in the final seconds, but couldn’t get the ball in the end zone, dropping to 1-7 on the season.

Ryan Absher had a big night for the Generals, rushing for 87 yards and three touchdowns from 4, 12 and 55 yards, and also had 80 yards receiving.

Lanter threw for 135 yards and also ran for 55 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown run.

Dakota Conley (47), Jason Grose (37) and Travis Duncan (20) also had rushing yards for Montcalm. Duncan also had 22 yard receiving, while John Casto added 35.

Montcalm, which trailed 27-26 with 1:40 left before the Patriots drove for another score, will visit Tygarts Valley next week.

Six seniors were recognized on Senior Night at Prudich Stadium.

HONAKER, Va. — Avin Parrott returned the opening kick for a touchdown, as the Tigers remained unbeaten on the season with a rout of the Rebels.

Honaker (7-0) received a 39-yard interception return for a touchdown by Casey Harmon, and Harmon also caught a 16-yard scoring pass from Casey Dye.

Chase Johnson, Hayden Horn, Austin Smith and McKenzie Phillips also had touchdown runs for the Tigers. Phillips made six extra point conversion kicks and a 24-yard field goal.

Dye threw for 66 yards, while Smith led the Tigers with 66 yards on the ground.

Hurley’s lone points came on a 55-yard interception return to narrow the first quarter score to 14-6.

Honaker, which outgained Hurley 235-166 will host Castlewood on Friday, while Hurley (3-4) will visit Haysi.

HAYSI, Va. — Jeffrey Bowen dominated the offense in leading the Tigers to a Black Diamond District win over the Panthers.

Bowen rushed seven times for 173 yards, scored five touchdowns, kicked five extra points and passed for a two-point conversion.

Tanner O’Quinn had three receptions for 117 yards for Haysi.

Austin Shortridge had 12 carries for 58 yards to lead Twin Valley.

BASTIAN, Va. — James Williams rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and caught one pass for 60 yards and a touchdown as the Blue Devils (4-3, 1-1) defeated the Bears (0-7, 0-2).

Teammate Jarrien Goins rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown on five carries and Max Rodgers completed 9-of-16 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.

Mason Christian put Bland County up 6-0 in the first quarter on a 1-yard run. The Bears also scored in the second period when Aaron Rose recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Bland County will Graham on Friday.
