Lexy Trigg scored six goals to lead Bluefield to its first win of the season, an 8-2 girls soccer decision over Wyoming East on Thursday at the East River Soccer Complex.
Emma Cole added two goals for the Beavers.
Princeton sweeps tri-match
GLEN DANIEL — Adrianna Mitchem dished out 29 assists as Princeton won a pair of matches, defeating Summers County 25-16, 25-15, and Liberty 25-18, 25-21.
Mitchem had 16 assists against the Bobcats, while McKenzi Barnett added six kills, five service points and three aces. Kaleigh Barker and Erika Davis each had five kills.
Davis added five kills and four digs, and Mitchem provided 13 assists in the win over Liberty. Taylor Graham added 10 points, five aces and three kills.
Graham claims MED match
DRAPER, Va. — Ben Ramsey fired a 1-under par 35 to lead Graham to a Mountain Empire District match win at Draper Valley Golf Club.
Graham’s 159 score was six strokes better than Galax (165), followed by Grayson County (182) and Fort Chiswell (185).
Joining Ramsey for the G-Men were William McGuire (40), Austin Boyce (42) and Zach Toohey (42).
Graham (43-4) improved to 12-0 in the MED. The G-Men returns to action on Monday at Fincastle on the Mountain.
Compton places ninth
PEARISBURG, Va. — Graham sophomore Kristen Compton picked up a medal for her ninth place finish in the Giles Invitational on Wednesday.
Compton finished the run in a time of 22:20. Mary Elliott of Radford was the overall female winner with a 21:07. Grayson County claimed the team title. Tazewell was represented by Caitlin Hayes, who placed 51st, and Suzanna Taylor, who was 61st.
Graham’s Brandon Carroll was the top local runner among the boys competitors, placing 29th in a time of 18:52. Other G-Men included Michael Franklin (47th, 20:00), Lucas Graham (56th, 20:36), Victor Cuen (94th, 22:52) and Ben Carlisle (118th, 29:20).
Tazewell was represented by Austin Brown (109th, 25:44), Hunter Mullins (116th, 27:01) and Garrett Nunley (119th, 29:42).
Galax won the team title, while the winner was Matthew Farmer of Rural Retreat (16:30). Graham placed 13th as a team, followed by Bland County (14th), and Narrows, which was 18th.
Garrett Wright placed eighth in the middle school record. Wright, a student a Graham Middle School, ran in a time of 14:50. Ben Owens was 66th with a time of 20:10.
Graham participates next in the Becky Selfe Invitational in Glade Spring, Va.
