Princeton falls to Patriots, Panthers

PRINCETON — Princeton dropped a pair of matches to open its 2013 volleyball season.

The Tigers dropped a 15-25, 25-21, 25-22 decision to Independence, and a 22-25, 25-22, 25-16 match to PikeView on their home court on Wednesday night.

Kaleigh Barker had 13 digs and 13 kills in the loss to Independence. McKenzi Barnett added nine kills, Adrianna Mitchem contributed 28 assists and nine digs, while Taylor provided 26 digs.

Barker also led Princeton against PikeView, contributing 17 kills and 10 digs. Other scorers for the Tigers included Mitchem (27 assists), Hamm (15 digs) and Erika Davis (seven kills).

Princeton will travel to Liberty today for a tri-match with Summers County.

No statistics were available from PikeView or Independence.

Ramsey leads G-Men

TAZEWELL, Va. — Ben Ramsey fired a two-under 34 to lead Graham to a win in a tournament involving Tazewell County high school at the Tazewell County Country Club.

Graham led with a 153, which also included scores from Travis Simms (39), Zach Toohey (40) and William McGuire (40).

Tazewell (168) was led by a 36 from Colin Hancock. Richlands (178) received a 36 by Zach Luttrell and 39 from Dylan Sawyers.

Graham will participate in a Mountain Empire District match today at Draper Valley.
