Wood leads PikeView to soccer victory

Bluefield drops pair of matches

GARDNER — Seth Wood scored three goals and dished out an assist, leading PikeView to a 7-2 boys soccer win over Herbert Hoover on Saturday afternoon.

Alec White, Isaac VanBlaricom, Brandon Calfee and Alex Testerman also scored for PikeView. Hunter Klein had two assists, while Wood, White and  VanBlaricom had one each.

Herbert Hoover received goals from Jeremy Hammes and Jesse Weese.

PikeView (2-1-1) will host Shady Spring on Tuesday.

Pocahontas County 3, Bluefield 1

DUNMORE — Tyler Easley scored for the Beavers, but Bluefield took the road loss.


Girls Soccer: Herbert Hoover 1, PikeView 0

GARDNER — Megan Allen scored in the 73rd minute off a corner kick from Bethany Roush to lead Herbert Hoover to a win over PikeView.

Kristen Brinkley played admirably in goal for the injury-riddled Panthers, stopping eight shots on goal. Bailey Aab had five saves for Hoover.

PikeView (1-3) will host Poca on Thursday.

Pocahontas County 3, Bluefield 0

DUNMORE — Pocahontas County scored three second half goals to pull away from the depth-shy Beavers, who were playing one player down.
