BLUEFIELD — Tazewell pitching product Trey Lambert has posted a 4-1 record and a 3.06 earned run average in six starts for the Liberty Flames baseball team this spring. Lambert, a 6-foot-4 junior, has struck out 18 and walked just nine in 35 1/3 innings on the mound. He also has one complete game for the 15-10 Flames.
Bradley Strong, left, a former baseball and football standout at Richlands,is batting .305 in 55 games for the Catamounts as a sophomore this season, along with 27 runs scored, 24 RBIs, eight doubles, three triples and a home run. Strong’s brother, Reece Strong, who was also a two-sport standout at Richlands, is a freshman for the Catamounts (32-24), but hasn’t played this season.
Princeton product Sean Williams is having a standout sophomore season for the Bluefield State baseball team, batting .344 through 14 games for the Big Blues. He also has scored 13 runs, drove in seven runs, added three doubles and swiped two bases. Only Dale Davis, who is from the Bahamas, has put up better numbers for the Blues. Davis is third in the WVIAC, batting .429 (21-49) with 12 runs, five doubles, four triples and 17 RBIs.
Iesha Mountain, a former speedy standout softball player at Tazewell, is now a sophomore performer for Akron in the Mid-American Conference. Mountain has played in 14 games for the 13-12 Zips, collecting one hit in seven at-bats, while scoring four runs and stealing six bases.
Richlands product Megan Robinson is currently batting .238 for the 14-13 Liberty University softball team. Robinson has 15 hits, 13 runs scored, four walks, four runs batted in, two doubles and home run for the Flames.
Former Tazewell and Bluefield College standout Omar Reed scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds in the Maine Red Claws’ 109-102 win over Erie in an NBDL contest on Thursday night. Reed, who is in his second season in the NBA Developmental League, has tallied 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 42 games for the Red Claws, who are 23-23 and in fourth place in the East Division, with the regular season slated to end on April 6.
