JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. —
Spencer Edwards and Emmanuel Paulino had two hits apiece, and Bralin Jackson drove in a pair of runs to lead Princeton to an 8-7 Appalachian League victory over Johnson Cityon Tuesday night at Howard Johnson Field.
Princeton (8-30) snapped a seven-game losing streak, with the Rays scoring three runs in the first and four in the fourth, and adding a run in the ninth on an RBI single by Hunter Lockwood.
The Rays won on the road for just the second time this season.
Johnson City (17-20) rallied from a 7-1 deficit with three in the sixth and two in the seventh against the Princeton bullpen.
Edwards and Paulino had doubles for Princeton, while Edwards and Jackson scored two runs apiece.
Ronnierd Garcia led Johnson City with two hits, including a two-run home run in the sixth off Josh Kimborowicz. He also scored three runs and drove in three runs. Jhohan Acevado added three hits for the Cardinals. Kenneth Peoples-Walls had a triple in defeat.
Nolan Gannon (1-3) picked up his first win of the season, allowing just three hits and one run in five innings on the mound. Issac Gil earned his second save of the campaign. Luis Perdomo was saddled with the loss, dropping to 1-4.
Princeton will remain in Johnson City tonight, and will begin a three-game series at Hunnicutt Field on Thursday with Burllington.
The Mercer Cup series will continue on Sunday in Bluefield.
