Princeton bitten by Wildcats

NITRO — Ian Lee scored 24 points and Nitro snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 59-50 win over Princeton on Thursday night.

Princeton was paced by Jacob Whittington with 10 points.

Princeton will host Shady Spring on Monday in the sectional opener for both teams.

NEW RICHMOND — The Westside Lady Renegades won the Region III, Section 1 championship, Tuesday night, defeating the Summers County Lady Bobcats at Wyoming East High School.

Summers County’s Whittney Justice and Westside’s Danielle Brown shared game scoring honors as each dropped in 20 points.

Westside will host PikeView next Thursday in one co-regional final and Summers County will visit Bluefield on Thursday in the other co-regional final.  Winners will advance to the state tournament.
