Roundup: Panthers nip Tigers; Bobcats win two

GARDNER — The PikeView Panthers outscored the Shady Spring Tigers 21-11 in the fourth quarter to claim a 60-55 win in Gardner on Monday night.

Zach Meadows shouldered more than half of the Panthers’ scoring load, with 31 points. He also cleared 12 rebounds. Jason Weitzel had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists, and Seth Wood contributed 11 rebounds for PikeView (12-8).

Shady Spring (9-11) nailed a dozen 3-pointers in the game. Landon Perry had six of them and finished with 20 points. Jordan Meadows sank four threes and ended with 13 points. Nathan Williams added 10 points for the Tigers.

PikeView plays Webster County at home on Wednesday.

LINDSIDE — Dakota Thomas put the ball up from under the basket for a buzzer-beater to win the game for the Bobcats. It was their only field goal of the fourth quarter.

James Monroe was down by 11 points in the second half, but tied the game 61-61 with 16 seconds left when Caleb Spencer hit his fifth 3-pointer of the contest.

Matt Ryan led the Bobcats (8-10) with 20 points. Ashton Garten added 16, Thomas had 13 points and Jacob Lively tossed in 11.

Spencer topped James Monroe’s scoring with 18 points and Rasheed Lowe added nine.

James Monroe (1-16) plays at Independence on Wednesday and then begins tournament play on Friday at Mount View.

Summers County 70, Wyoming East 57

NEW RICHMOND — Brittney Justice scored 28 points — including a 14 of 15 showing at the free-throw line — and grabbed 10 rebounds as Class AA No. 4 Summers County pulled away from Wyoming East in the Region 3, Section 1 tournament.

Whittney Justice had 11 points and six assists for the Lady Bobcats (19-2).

Hayley Butcher scored 13 points and Bre Pertee 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Chiara Jewell also grabbed 10 boards as the Lady Warriors ended their season at 13-8.

Summers will take on No. 3 Westside for the sectional championship at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wyoming East.
