SALEM, Va. — Local runner Nick Whited won one of Southwest Virginia’s largest races on Saturday night, the Into the Darkness 4 mile trail run near the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Roanoke.

All participants were required to have a light source due to pitch-black conditions on the trails.

It was Whited’s 11th win of the year, and his winning time of 27:03 was the fourth fastest time in the event’s seven-year history.
