PEARISBURG, Va. —
Brian Mann scored on a 3-yard run 3:20 left in the game, and the Giles Spartans remained undefeated on the season with a 25-20 win over Galax on Friday night.
Mann led Giles with 166 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and also threw a 35-yard scoring pass to Dakoda Shrader.
Steven Peoples paced Galax with 205 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and also caught a 90-yard touchdown pass from Carson Orton.
Brett Whitlow added 109 yards for Giles, including a 57-yard scoring run just five minutes into the game.
Giles finished with 361 yards in offense, while the Maroon Tide had 359.
The Spartans (5-0) will visit Auburn on Friday.

Greenbrier West 48, PikeView 12
GARDNER — Greenbrier West scored 48 first half points to pull away from PikeView on homecoming night for the Panthers.
Hunter Moses scored a late touchdown for PikeView (2-4), which travels Friday to Wyoming East.

Covington 23, Summers County 16
COVINGTON, Va. — Covington overcame a nine-point halftime deficit, scoring 16 points after the break to send the Bobcats to their first loss of the season.
Summers County quarterback Matt Ryan completed a pass in the end zone to Erik Lindsey with seconds left on the clock, but the play was called back due to an illegal motion call.
T.J. Smith scored twice for the Bobcats on first half scoring passes of 17 and 30 yards.
Covington (4-1) narrowed a 10-0 deficit on a 5-yard scoring run by Brandon Phillips, but still trailed 16-7 at the break.
The Cougars began the comeback with a 43-yard field goal by Jonathan Elmore in the third quarter.
They scored twice in the final period on a 25 yard scoring pass from Luke Moye to Raquann Matthews and a 85-yard interception return for a touchdown by Trevor Jack.
Smith led the Bobcats with 53 yards rushing, while Isaiah Brown had seven receptions for 63 yards. Smith and Lindsey had interceptions for Summers County.
Summers County (5-1), which was ranked second in the Class AA state ratings, will host Independence on Friday.
