Judy shoots Mavericks to match win

PETERSTOWN — James Monroe shot a 157 and won a four-team golf match, Thursday at Fountain Springs Golf Club. Summers County was second with 194, followed by PikeView (202) and Bluefield (204).

Ike Judy of James Monroe was medalist with a 36. Megan Bailey shot a 39 and Eli Judy and Ethan Spencer both had 41 for the Mavericks.

Ashton Garten and John Mann led Summers County as both shot 44, followed by Christian Harvey (54) and David Staley (55).

Ben Boggess and Carter Shrewsbury led PikeView with 48, Ted White had a 49 and Waylon Graham 57.

Joel Carlos paced Bluefield with a 45, followed by Patrick Hutchinson and Dominick Buzzo at 52 and Mark Clapp with 55.

Bluefield will meet the same teams plus Montcalm, on Monday at the Princeton Elks Club.

Volleyball

Narrows stops Bland County

NARROWS, Va. — The Narrows Green Wave volleyball team picked up a three-set win over the Bland County Bears 25-6, 25-12, 25-8.

Shana Davis led Narrows with 23 assists while Tiffany Perdue had eight kills and five aces and Lindsey Kast had four kills.

Narrows is 5-4 and will host Graham on Tuesday.

Princeton splits 2

COAL CITY — The Princeton Tigers split a pair of matches Thursday evening, falling to the Independence Patriots before downing the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders.

The Tigers lost in three sets to the Patriots, 29-27, 21-25, 16-25. In that match Taylor Hamm had 25 digs, Adrianna Mitchem 28 assists, Kelsey Browning seven digs, seven points and four aces, Kaleigh Barker 18 kills and 15 digs and Mckenzie Barnett seven kills.

Princeton beat Greater Beckley Christian 25-15, 25-21 in the nightcap.

Hamm had 12 digs, Mitchem 17 assists, Barker six kills and Barnett seven kills, seven points and two aces.

Princeton is now 9-4 and plays Tuesday at the Charleston Civic Center against Williamstown and Robert C. Byrd.

In the JV contest the Tigers beat Independence 25-21, 18-25, 25-22. Katie Hickman had five kills, Kayla Aboulhosn 16 digs, 17 points and five aces and Kristen Walker had five kills.
