PikeView volleys past Knights

GARDNER — Led by 18 assists from Hannah Cook and seven kills by Haleigh Compton, the PikeView Panthers won their third volleyball match in a row Tuesday evening, beating Mount View 25-15, 25-11, 25-9 at the PVHS gym.

For the Panthers, Alexis May had two kills and five aces, Savanna Coalson had five kills and six aces and Lyndsey Hatfield had three kills and two aces. Compton also contributed an ace.

PikeView (5-3) travels to Oak Hill on Thursday.

Narrows 3,       Craig County 0

NARROWS, Va. — Courtney Smith and Tiffany Kast each had seven kills to lead the Green Wave past the Rockets 25-10, 25-18, 25-16.

Shana Davis added 16 assists for Narrows (4-4), which will host Bland County on Wednesday.

Brittany Austin paced Craig County with nine kills.

Princeton wins twice

PRINCETON — The Tigers topped two opponents in a tri-match on Tuesday on their home court.

Princeton defeated Shady Spring 16-25, 25-19, 25-10. Kaleigh Barker had 24 kills and four blocks. McKenzi Barnett nine kills and eight digs. Taylor Hamm had 24 digs, 25 service points and five aces. Adrianna Mitchem had 28 assists and eight digs.

The Tigers beat James Monroe 21-25, 28-26, 25-14. Caitlyn Burks had seven kills and two blocks. Barker and Barnett each had six kills. Hamm had 11 digs and Mitchem had 20 assists and nine digs.

Princeton (8-3) plays Thursday at Independence.

MCA 3,     Dayspring 2

PRINCETON — Mercer Christian fought back after losing the first two games of a volleyball match Tuesday night, to defeat Dayspring Christian 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-5.

For the Lady Cavaliers (8-3), London Taylor had 36 digs and Brooke Bradford had 31. Jamie Brown had five aces, 16 assists and 14 kills, and Olivia Grondzik had 15 kills.

Mercer Christian, which also won the middle school game, hosts Beth Haven Christian on Friday night.


Judy leads Mavs to match win

BLUEFIELD — Ike Judy earned medalist honors with a 37 to lead James Monroe to a tri-match win over Princeton and Bluefield.

Judy led James Monroe to a four-person 179. He was joined by Megan Bailey (45), Ethan Spencer (46) and Eli Judy (51). Princeton (187) placed second, led by Andrew Wilson (40), Will Hickman (46), Tanner Veneri (50) and James Blankenship (51).

Bluefield (210) was paced by Joel Carlos with a 46. Patrick Hutchinson (53), Dominick Buzzo (55) and Cody Goins (56) also placed for the Beavers.
