BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield boys took two matches from Independence High on Monday at Bluefield City Courts, by scores of 6-1 and 5-1. The second match ended due to darkness.

Justin Freund and Jose Tarin won at No. 1 doubles in both matches for the Bluefield boys (7-0).

The Bluefield girls (6-0) took six of seven games in their completed match, including a close No. 1 doubles win by Zoe Nicewander and Alex Lewis by a 9-7 score.

The girls also began a doubleheader match, which was suspended after doubles competition late in the evening with Bluefield ahead 2-1.

The Bluefield boys and girls host Man today at 4 p.m. On Wednesday Bluefield is at Princeton, followed by two home matches on Thursday and Friday against Huntington St. Joe and Wyoming East.

Graham 9, Narrows 1

NARROWS, Va. — The Graham G-Men took a 6-1 halftime lead and added three more goals to round out the match.

Jake Ballard scored for Narrows on a penalty kick in the first half.

The Green Wave started Jamie Scott in goal. He had three saves in 10 minutes of action. Frankie Kantsious replaced him and made 14 saves.

Narrows (0-6) plays Thursday at Fort Chiswell.


Richlands 5, Carroll County 1

RICHLANDS, Va. — Logan Forrest scored four goals to lead the Blue Tornado to a Southwest District win last weekend over the Cavaliers.

John Stanton added a goal and two assists in the win.
