MONTCALM — The River View Raiders notched their first win on Friday night. Tony Clevenger had 12 rebounds and five blocked shots. Tyree Baker scored 13 and Zack Morgan 12 and Morgan and Baker each had five steals. Taylor DeHaven had five assists.

River View, which had not won a game in nearly two years, led by as many as 23 points.

“This is not the end of a losing streak but the beginning of a winning streak,” said River View coach Don Smith. “We’ve been making a lot of threes. We've been averaging about six threes a game. ... We shot the ball well tonight.”

 “They played well. They deserved to win tonight,” said Montcalm coach Matt Smith.

River View plays Tuesday at home against Phelps, Ky.

VAN — The Mount View Golden Knights shot past the Van Bulldogs to move their record to 6-3.

Maurice Brown led the Knights with 20 points, Antoine Calloway added 13, Tim Nowlin 11 and Paco Bonds had 10.

Mount View returns to the court Tuesday night when Montcalm visits the Knights’ Castle in Welch.

CROSS LANES — Aleks Lane scorched the nets for 22 points, Austin Peyton followed with 21 and Trevor Shorter grabbed 23 rebounds to lead Pipestem Christian to victory at Cross Lanes Christian.

Tyler Corbin led Cross Lanes with 16 points.

Pipestem Christian plays again on Friday when they host Grace Christian.
