Roundup: Tigerettes lose by a single point

PRINCETON — McKenzie Akers scored 37 points and had four assists for Princeton Senior High on Friday night, but the Timberwolves of Spring Valley got double-digit scoring from three players and took a slim 67-66 road win on Friday night.

The score was tied 31-31 at halftime and 50-50 after three quarters.

Akers was 13 of 25 from the floor and connected on four treys. Hannah Preservati had nine points for the Tigerettes (8-2), all on three-point shots, and Marissa Mullins added nine points. Preservati and Rachel Surface each had eight rebounds.

Kassidy Lemmons led Spring Valley with 17 points.

Princeton travels to St. Albans on Tuesday.

HINTON — The Summers County Lady Bobcats defeated Class AAA Shady Spring to improve their record to 9-1 on the season.

Avery Pivot topped the Summers County scoring sheet with 13 points, Brandi Morrison had 12 points and eight rebounds, Brittany Bonds tallied 11 points, and Tyra Wyne seven steals along with nine points.  Kaylee Dickenson led Shady with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Summers County, ranked No. 4 in Class AA, plays at top-ranked Westside on Monday.

Oak Hill Academy Red 74, Ballard 48

MOUTH OF WILSON, Va. — Ballard Christian School stayed close in the first half, but the Oak Hill Academy Red Team extended a 39-28 lead in the second half on Friday.

Josh Deskins had a double-double for Ballard Christian (6-5) with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dalton Lankford added 10 points. King Scott paced the victors with 32.

Ballard will host Charleston-based Calvary Christian next Friday night at 7 p.m.
