Beavers dam up Raiders, Panthers fall to Liberty

BRADSHAW — Anthony Eades fired in 26 points, while D.J. Edwards and Lykel Collier added 15 apiece to lead the Bluefield Beavers to a 94-52 win over the River View Raiders, Tuesday night at River View High School.

The Beavers held a 30-10 lead after the first period and extended their lead to 46-22 at the half.

River View freshman Tyree Baker topped the Raiders’ scoring column with 24 points. He also had five rebounds and two assists. Dakota Collins had 11 boards and three assists for the Raiders.

Bluefield (3-1) plays next on Friday at Oak Hill. River View (0-7), hosts Lincoln County, Saturday night.

Liberty 89,   PikeView 69

SHADY SPRING — The Liberty Raiders defeated the PikeView Panthers 89-69 in the opening round of the Shady Spring Holiday Tournament. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Dec. 21.

Jason Weitzel led the Panthers with 20 points, Logan McKinney added 14 and Zach Meadows 12.

Levi Cook and Trevor McGhee each had 25 for Liberty (2-1) and Austin Lyons added 24.

PikeView (1-4) plays the loser between Independence and Shady Spring on Saturday in the consolation game.

Summers County 84, James Monroe 64

HINTON — The Summers County Bobcats improved to 4-2 on the season with a win over James Monroe.

Ta’Ron Ayers led all scores with 34, T.J. Smith added 26 and Josh Graham contributed 13.  

Josh Ganoe led James Monroe with 17 points,  Garrett Mann contributed 16 and Chord Settle chimed in with 12.

The Bobcats host Greenbrier West, Saturday, while James Monroe plays Princeton tonight in the first round of the Alpha Natural Resources Holiday Tournament in Princeton.
