Stacy pitches, hits Hurley into BDD semifinals

HURLEY, Va. — Greg Stacy launched a two-run home run in Hurley’s eight-run second inning, and pitched a complete game to lead the Rebels past the Twin Valley Panthers on Friday in the Black Diamond District play-in baseball game.

Stacy struck out 13 batters, allowed five hits and walked seven Panthers.

Twin Valley (2-13) scored twice in the fourth and three times in the fifth to close the scoring gap to 8-5, but couldn’t manage another run.

Ryan Lester hit a two-run double for Hurley (6-10) in the sixth inning to close out the scoring.

The Panthers were led offensively by J.D. Lowe, who was 2 for 3 with a run batted in.

Hurley will face Honaker on Tuesday in the BDD semifinals, at Haysi. Friday’s loss ended Twin Valley’s season.
