Sherman topples Montcalm 75-56 and other area action

MONTCALM — Michael Blackwell scored 23 points, but it was not enough as the Sherman Tide downed the Montcalm Generals 75-56, Wednesday evening in Montcalm. Darius Brodesser added 14 for the Generals who are now 0-3 on the season.

Sherman was led by Cody Muncy with 22 and Blake Brewer with 17.

Montcalm returns to the court tonight at River View.

PRINCETON — Jonathan Easter scored a game-high 35 points to lead Mercer Christian Academy past Mountain State Christian, Thursday night at MCA.

Larry Stroub led Mountain State with 21 points, Jeremiah Cude had 15 and Austin Cude 11.

MCA, now 5-1, returns to the court Monday night, hosting Jefferson Christian.

ELLISTON, Va. — Alyssa Harris scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Bland County Lady Bears to their first win of the season, Thursday night at Eastern Montgomery.

Kristin Dillow added 13 for the Lady Bears while Amber Eaton and Danielle Russo each scored 10. Afton Graham led Eastern Montgomery with 12 and Kasey Smith popped in 10.

Bland County hosts Tazewell this evening at Rocky Gap.

PRINCETON — Jamie Brown powered in 29 points, had eight steals and two rebounds to lead MCA past Mountain State Christian, Thursday evening at the MCA gymnasium.

Britt Bradford added 12 rebounds and three steals, and Sammi Goins pulled down 11 boards with a steal for the Lady Cavaliers who improved to 3-2 on the season.

Amy Nelson led Mountain State Christian with 14 points.

MCA returns to the court tonight as they host Day Spring of Blacksburg, Va.
