Montcalm routs Graham 17-4 in Yo-Na

BASTIAN, Va. — Six Montcalm batters had two hits each, and the Generals shocked Graham 17-4 in the Yo-Na Invitational on Thursday evening at Skip Dillow Memorial Field.

John Casto, Aaron Presley, Tyler Poe, Dustin Williams, Dakota Lanter and Travis Pointer had two hits apiece, while Steven Whitteker contributed a triple.

Aaron Presley picked up the win, allowing five hits in a complete game effort.

Tommy Lovell, Logan Kirk, McKinley Webb, Josh Conley and Jay Boone had hits for the G-Men.

Montcalm (5-7) will play Bluefield in the Coppinger Invitational opener tonight at Bowen Field. First pitch, weather permitting, is slated for 5 p.m.

Mount View 9, Van 3

WELCH — The Mount View Golden Knights picked up their third win of the season with a 9-3 decision over the Van Bulldogs, Thursday evening at Nick Shaffron Field.

Maurice Brown got the pitching victory for the Knights and Bryan Villanueva was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Aaron Whittaker was 2-for-3 and had Mount View’s only extra base hit, a double, and Tony Blackburn was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

The Knights (3-8) return to action Saturday afternoon in the Coppinger Tournament against Tazewell at 4 p.m. at Lou Peery Field in Tazewell.

James Monroe 3, PikeView 2

GARDNER — Rebecca Ratliff scattered seven hits, and collected a hit and scored a run, leading James Monroe to a win over PikeView.

Ratliff and Bailee Jackson had the only two hits for the Mavericks. That duo also scored a run, as did Hillary Hersman.

PikeView was led by Hope Nester with three hits and Haleigh Compton with two hits an an RBI. Lyndsay Hatfield scored both runs for the Panthers. Kendra Cecil and Savannah Coalson each had hits in the loss.

PikeView (8-9) will host Valley-Fayette today.

Ratliff picked up the win in the circle, striking out three, while Compton took the loss, but allowed just two hits and struck out eight.
