Bluefield High's Sutton to wrestle again today

HUNTINGTON — Mark Sutton of Bluefield High School lost to David Hastings of Williamstown in the 195-pound weight class in 43 seconds at the Class AA-A state wrestling meet on Friday at Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Sutton, who will wrestle in a consolation round today, had advanced to the semifinals by defeating Braxton Lewis of Frankfort earlier in Friday in 5:31. He also won a first round match on Thursday.

In Friday’s consolation rounds, Christian Oster of Bluefield lasted 2 minutes before losing in a fall to Colton Kirby of Clay-Battelle in the 145-pound class, and in the 175-pound class, Oak Glen’s Devon Chadwick won a 4-3 decision over Bluefield’s Roman Wallace.

Independence leads the team competition with 153 points, followed by Greenbrier West with 110. Bluefield was tied for 28th with 11 points.
