WELCH — Mingo Central’s inside-outside game proved too much for the Lady Knights at the Castle on Monday.

The Miners’ 6-foot-1 center Ashley Curry scored 17 points, all in the paint, and Hannah Church scored 19 points, 17 of which came in the second half when she connected on three 3-pointers.

The Knights led 12-8 after the first quarter but trailed 22-21 at halftime and allowed their visitors 41 second-half points.

Jasmine Lash and Keisha Johnson led Mount View with 15 and 14 points respectively.

Mount View (11-5) hosts Van on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ doubleheader game to follow.

NARROWS, Va. — The Lady Wave edged the Rockets at Narrows High School Monday in the quarterfinals of the Conference 45 tournament.

Freshman Shelby Baker notched 18 points, 10 rebounds and three steals for Narrows (9-11). Tiffany Perdue scored 12 points, and Darien Nagel provided a spark with seven rebounds and five steals. Narrows ended with 15 team steals.

Melia Hutton tossed in 22 points for the Rockets.

Narrows plays again on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Eastern Montgomery against No. 1-seed Covington.

NEW RICHMOND — The Panthers got 12 points and 12 rebounds from Lyndsay Hatfield to hold off the Warriors on the road. Courtney White added 11 points and five boards. Madison May had 16 points and five steals.

It will be a quick rematch tonight in Gardner as PikeView (14-3) plays the Warriors again at 7 p.m. on Grandparents’ and Parents’ Night. Another makeup game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday against Mount View, which will be PikeView’s Senior Night.
