River View thumps Van on Senior Night

BRADSHAW — River View’s 12th-grade basketball players were honored on Senior Night prior to Monday evening’s game against Van, but it was freshman Katie Dobbs who claimed the spotlight during a 54-27 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Dobbs led River View (8-10) with 37 points and 21 rebounds.

Stevie White, the only Lady Bulldog senior, paced her squad with 11 points.

Dobbs, working in the post, scored the initial eight points of the contest and a dozen of the View’s 14 first-chapter points, as the Lady Raiders led 14-7 after one.

Van (4-10) went more than 13 minutes without scoring a field goal, trailing 35-9 midway through the third quarter before Destiny Lovejoy knocked down the second of her two 3-pointers to snap that string.

The Lady Raiders will entertain Meadow Bridge tonight.
