Beavers romp in Monroe County

LINDSIDE — Bluefield scored the first 20 of the ballgame to put away James Monroe 95-35 at Lindside Tuesday night.

Anthony Eades had six quick points in Bluefield’s fast start. The Mavericks were held scoreless until Preston Jones hit a foul shot 4 1/2 minutes into the game.

The Beavers (13-2) led 54-21 at the break, and with the second unit playing big minutes in the second half, Bluefield stretched its lead to 60 at the final buzzer.

Eades paces a balanced Bluefield attack with 18. Matt Woodrum added 16, including three straight 3-point plays. Corey Coppola added 15, with David Edwards and Azir Price scoring 13 apiece.

Jacob McKlarney led the Mavericks (0-12) in scoring with seven, and Landon Shires added six.

Bluefield returns to action tonight in a rematch with the Mavericks at the Brushfork Armory.
