Lady Bobcats top Bluefield

HINTON — Summers County pulled away in the second half to defeat Bluefield 68-49 on Tuesday night in a rematch of a four-overtime game won by the Lady Bobcats on Jan. 14.

Senior Brandy Morrison provided 14 points and eight rebounds for Summers County, while sisters Brittney and Whittney Justice each had five assists. Whittney Justice led the scoring column with 16 and Brittany had 11. Avery Pivont scored 10 points.

Destiney Sims tossed in 16 points for Bluefield, which was not able to score from 3-point range. Essence Brown and Dazia Edwards both had 10 points.

Summers County plays at Independence today in a makeup game, weather permitting.

NARROWS, Va. — The Blue Devils used a 27-point third quarter to open up breathing room after leading 22-20 at halftime.

Shelby Baker had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Wave and Tiffany Perdue contributed 10 points. Meredith Frost led the victors with 20 points.

Narrows (8-11, 2-6 MED) plays Friday at Fort Chiswell, weather permitting. Tonight’s game with Galax has been canceled. Narrows will host the first round of the Conference 45 playoffs on Monday, with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys playing about 7:30.

ABINGDON, Va. — Taylor Blevins scored 17 points and Audrey Billips added 14 to lead the Falcons past the Bulldogs.

Whitney Saunders led Tazewell with 21 points.

Tazewell (10-10) is slated to complete its regular season tonight at Grundy, weather permitting.
