The Concord men’s basketball team shot 55 percent from the field Saturday, but the Glenville State Pioneers shot 56 percent and took a 103-92 win, extending the Mountain Lions’ losing streak to 10 games.
Jordan McCloud scored 27 points and Donte Morales had 25 for the Pioneers (10-6, 7-5 Mountain East). Reggie Williams had 10 of Glenville State’s 18 assists.
Cam Shannon paced Concord (5-13, 2-10) with career-highs of 25 points and four steals, going 8 for 15 from the field and 7 for 8 at the foul line. Paul Byrd scored 13, Mike Boyd added 12 and Jalen Camper netted 11.
The Mountain Lions were whistled for a season-high 28 fouls, and the Pioneers made 27 of 38 free throws. Glenville State made 10 three-pointers and produced 42 points in the paint.
Women’s game: Glenville State 108, Concord 89
Concord produced its highest point total of the season but could not stop the Lady Pioneers, currently ranked 11th in NCAA Division II.
The Mountain Lions (8-8, 6-6) jumped out to an early 27-17 lead, paced by 11 points from Andrea Bertrand, but Glenville State (16-2, 11-1) roared back and led 53-42 at halftime.
Glenville State used a 10-2 run to end the half with a 49-37 lead, and was ahead by 20 points twice in the second half.
Bertrand scored 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, her fifth double-double this season. Sissy Wagner converted six 3-pointers on her way to a 20-point game. Jacqueline Kestner had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Kenyona Simmons scored 19 points for the Lady Pioneers and Tiffani Huffman scored 18.
