Lady Knights rip past Lady Generals in hardwood action

MONTCALM — The Mount View Lady Knights opened a 28-0 lead and defeated the Montcalm Lady Generals 57-28, Friday night at Montcalm High School.

Keisha Johnson led the Lady Knights and all scorers with 23 points.

Hannah Johnson led Montcalm with nine points. The Lady Generals connected on only two two-point goals in the contest.

Mount View improved to 8-1 and will be at River View on Tuesday, while Montcalm fell to 0-9 and plays in the W.Va. HIT tournament next Saturday.

Graham 59, Grayson County 55

INDEPENDENCE, Va. — The freshman trio of Lexi Kiser, Jia Coppola and Dejah Carter scored 39 of Graham’s 59 points to lead the G-Girls to victory over the Lady Blue Devils of Grayson County.

Kiser led the way with 19 points. Carter added 10 points along with 10 rebounds and five blocks and Coppola tallied 10 points to go with six steals and six rebounds.

Cameron McGrady led Grayson County with 17 and Meredith Frost and Taylor Cannaday scored 12 apiece.

Graham returns to the court Wednesday, hosting Richlands.

NEW RICHMOND — Jordan Hayes scored 14 points and Christian Hedinger added 11, leading the Warriors past the Panthers.

Wyoming East (7-1) took a 40-22 lead the break.

Zach Meadows and Seth Wood scored 12 points each for PikeView, while Jason Weitzel added 11.

PikeView (3-4) will visit Liberty on Monday, while the Warriors host Mount View on Tuesday.

INDEPENDENCE, Va. — Colby Hill was a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line, scoring 21 points, and Tanner Miller made the most of his first start with 13 points as the G-Men won on the Blue Devils’ court.

Roman Workman added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Graham (9-4), which had 12 assists as a team. Tony Hood contributed six rebounds and four assists. Hill provided four assists, and went 8 for 8 in free throws down the stretch.

The G-Men led 24-17 after halftime then had to outscore Grayson County in a fast-paced fourth quarter.

Ty Canaday had 20 points for the Blue Devils.

Graham plays at Richlands on Tuesday.
