Blue Jays fly by Twins

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — The Bluefield Blue Jays won their second game in a row defeating the Elizabethton Twins 2-0, Thursday night at Joe O’Brien Field.

Josh Almonte’s two-run home run in the sixth inning were the only runs scored in the game. Almonte finished the night 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and pushed his batting average to .369.

Miguel Burgos pitched five innings of three hit ball and struck out six to get the victory, while Dusty Isaacs worked the final 1 1/3 to earn the save. Oscar Cabrera got the hold for the Blue Jays.

Elizabethton starting pitcher Sam Gibbons pitched six innings and suffered the defeat.

The two teams play game two of their series tonight at 7:00.
