Montcalm 36, Greater Beckley Christian 30

BECKLEY — The Lady Generals picked up their first victory of the season Friday, coming back from a 16-4 deficit after the first quarter to hold their hosts to six points or less in each of the other periods.

Greater Beckley Christian clung to a 22-21 lead at halftime but Montcalm outscored them 3-2 in the third stanza to tie the game going into the final quarter.

Montcalm’s Miranda Kendrick led all scorers with 16 points and added seven steals. Leslie Kelley provided 14 points, 12 boards and eight steals, close to a triple-double.

Kayla Hill had nine points to lead Greater Beckley Christian in scoring.

The Lady Generals (1-2) host Fayetteville on Tuesday night.

CLEAR FORK — The PikeView Panthers stayed close through the opening quarter on Thursday night, but could not match a powerful Renegades team, which pulled out to a 39-19 halftime margin on their home court.

Hope Nester led the Panthers (1-1) with 12 points. Laura Hill had five steals for PikeView; White and Savannah Runion had four rebounds each.

Morgan Spolarich and Faith Davis both scored 13 points for Westside (2-0).

PikeView’s next game is Dec. 14 in the Tolsia Christmas Tournament against Spring Valley at 6 p.m.
