Warriors plan noise, fireworks this week

EAST RIVER — The Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors plan to wrap up their first season in Mercer County by making some noise and thanking their fans this week at the team’s final two regular-season home games at East River Soccer Complex.

The King’s Warriors will host the Carolina Dynamo at 7 p.m. Tues-day and will close out the regular season with a match against their in-state rivals, the West Virginia Chaos on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tuesday’s game is being dubbed as “Make Some Noise Night.” Fans are being asked to bring their noisemakers, cowbells, drums or anything that will make sounds to provide a “noisy” atmosphere.

A fireworks display is scheduled to take place immediately after the Saturday regular-season finale.

At both the Tuesday and Saturday games, all attendees will receive a free King’s Warriors “Rally Towel” and bumper stickers sponsored by the West Virginia Coalfields Highway Safety Program.

All fans attending either game will also receive a free “Under Pressure” Soccer DVD produced by Athletes In Action and sponsored by Forest Hill Family Practice in Forest Hill.

Tickets are $8 at the gate for attendees 17 years of age or older. The cost is $5 for youth, those 60 years old or older, and for adult tickets purchased at least 24 hours in advance of the desired game date.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by phone using a credit card and calling the King’s Warriors’ office at 304-466-9080.

Southern West Virginia is still in the running for a playoff spot with a record of  6-4-2.

The King’s Warriors are members of the United Soccer League’s top amateur league, the Premier Development League.
