Sister duo leads Panthers past G-Girls

GARDNER — The sister duo of Lauryn and Lyndsay Hatfield combined to lead the PikeView girls basketball team to a 48-41 win over Graham on Monday night at PikeView High School.

Lyndsay Hatfield contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Lauryn Hatfield added eight points, seven rebounds and six assists.

PikeView took a 20-13 lead at the break and never allowed the G-Girls to make up the deficit in the second half.

Madison May led PikeView with 15 points and two blocked shots, while Courtney White had eight rebounds and two blocks. Crysta Meekins contributed four steals and Katelyn Odle also had two blocked shots.

Graham was led by freshman Lexi Kiser with 16 points, while Emaleigh Gallinger added nine.

PikeView (2-0) will visit Chapmanville on Saturday, while the G-Girls (0-2) will seek their first win on Friday by hosting Tazewell.

SHAWSVILLE, Va. — Amber Eaton scored 19 points to lead Bland County to its first win of the season, a two-point victory at Eastern Montgomery.

Eastern Montgomery (2-3) was led by Ashton Graham with 18 points or 14 by Sarah Simpkins.

Bland County (1-2) will visit Patrick Henry on Friday.
