Bluefield Daily Telegraph

GRUNDY, Va. — Morgan Hall scored her 1,000th career point last week as Grundy went on a four-game road trip.

The senior made her first home game of the season a special one, as well. Hall led Grundy to a 59-37 win over Buchanan County and Black Diamond District rival Hurley Monday night.

The versatile Hall posted a double-double with 32 points, 14 rebounds and added eight steals, four assists and a block.

"Morgan has done everything we've asked her to do this season so far," Grundy coach Craig Plymal said. "She's played every position on the floor.

"She knew that. We've had to rotate people to get her good match-ups.

She's been a baseline runner, a point guard, a wing, and the team's rallied around her."

Emily Lane added eight points and five assists the Grundy defense forced 24 turnovers, half of them in the first half when the Lady Wave (2-3) took a 30-13 halftime lead.

"I was impressed with the way we played defense in the first half tonight," Plymal added.

Adrianna Cline and freshman Ariel Endicott each scored 12 points to lead Hurley (0-2).

In a sloppy nightcap Grundy (1-2) overcame a flurry of unforced turnovers to pull away from the Rebels in the second half of the boys' game.

Baylen Dillow and Wes Peck each scored 13 points for Grundy. Dillow added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

"The effort was there even though it got sloppy," first-year Grundy coach Todd Tiller said. "We try to make a highlight play too much instead of trying to make a good play."

Dylan Billiter led Hurley (0-2) with a game-high 16 points.
