Beavers nudge past Scott; Montcalm tops Greater Beckley

MADISON — The Bluefield Beavers improved to 10-1 on the season with a 68-63 win over the Scott Skyhawks, Thursday night. Tied at 46 after three periods, the Beavers won the game in the fourth quarter.

A trio of Beavers scored in double-digits, led by Anthony Eades with 22. Lykel Collier added 14 and D.J. Edwards contributed 13. Matt Dolan led Scott with a game-high 28.

Bluefield returns to the court tonight, hosting River View at the Brushfork Armory.

Ballard Christian 79, Mercer Christian 48

BALLARD — The Ballad Christian Eagles got 25 points eight rebounds and seven assists from Josh Deskins, 18 points from Chris Prunesti, 11 points from Dalton Lankford, and 11 points and 12 assists from Ray Spencer to defeat the Mercer Christian Cavaliers, Thursday night.

J.J. Easter led the Cavaliers with a game-high 28 points.

Ballard Christian, now 9-5 will host Appalachian Christian, Monday.

Bland County 79, Narrows 45

NARROWS, Va. — Darryl Clark scored 18, Asher Dillow 13 and Chase Hankins 11 to lead the Bland County Bears to a Mountain Empire District win over the Narrows Green Wave.

Rodney Perdue led the Green Wave (7-10, 0-6) with 10 points.

The Green Wave plays next on Monday at Montcalm, while Bland County visits Richlands, also on Monday.

BECKLEY — The Montcalm Lady Generals got 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals from Miranda Kendrick to defeat the Greater Beckley Christian School Crusaders.

Hannah Johnson added 10 for Montcalm while  Leslie Kelley added nine points, 11 rebounds and eight steals.

Montcalm (5-11) is back in action Tuesday night at Mount View.

Wrestling

G-Men sweep quad

INDEPENDENCE, Va. — The Graham G-Men grapplers won all three of its matches at the Mountain Empire District regular season quad, Wednesday night at Grayson County High School.

The G-Men defeated Galax 45-27, Grayson County 63-18 and Fort Chiswell 66-12.

Graham wrestlers who won three matches were Preston Hagerman (113), Shane Hudson (120), Tristan Evans (126), Austin Miller (132), Kyshon Lee (170) and Robert Compton (195). G-Men who won two matches were Jacob Evans (145), Dakota Byrd (152), Aaron Thompson (160), Levi Stroupe (182), Everett Vest (220) and Colin Beavers (285).

Graham is now 3-0 in MED matches and 25-2 overall.

The G-Men next take to the mats again on Saturday as they host the annual Graham Invitational Duals at Graham High School.
